Pastured Poultry
**We are not raising poultry at this time. Check back with us next summer!**
The chickens are raised in the brooder until three weeks of age, when they will be big enough to move into their 'Chicken Tractors*.' These are portable cages that provide shelter, protection from predators, and access to grass and delicious bugs! This produces wonderfully tender, juicy, and healthy meat!
Our turkeys are Red Bourbons, and this year we have begun an experiment to let the turkeys live in the wild! This spring we brought the flock (15 hens and 1 Tom) up onto one of our back fields where we set up an electric fence around a section of woods. They have been living there for several weeks now and are just starting to lay eggs. Our hope is that they will hatch them on their own and raise them up, just like they would in nature! As this is just an experiment, we will not be taking any orders for turkeys just yet, but we will let you know how it goes!
Chickens will be available on specific dates throughout the summer and fall. At the specified times, we require buyers to pick up their chickens at the farm, or at one of the to-be-determined drop off spots throughout Vermont. Contact us for more information.
